The lightning strikes shown on this radar image are from amateurs detectors. In order for a lightning strike to show on this map, three stations have to agree on the exact location and time of each individual strike. Many such amateur stations have been grouped together using the StrikStar network. The images are collected every ten minutes. The last ten images are combined into this time lapse image.
